Are the 48 Hour classes offered by the various providers "all the same"?
No. Not even remotely.
State law merely identifies 12 topics which must be included in the course -- as a minimum. State law does not specify the "content" provided on those 12 topics.
As a result, each of the "approved providers" has come up with "their version" of what "they think" you need to know on these topics.
This is the way it should be.
Think of it this way: When you take a course on any topic from one instructor at any institution, the experience of students taking a class on the same subject will be very different from that received with another instructor -- for obvious reasons.
In this instance, you are about to be a business owner (or if this is your second AFH then you're meeting the educational requirement). It is up to you to research course offerings and select the provider whom you feel will best deliver the information you need to make your business a success. Though you may wish for it to be simpler, this resonsibility is part of owning your own business.
Why should you consider taking the course from Pretty Good Life?
All this talk about business on our website -- there's a good reason why.
The Legislature's intent is to improve the results the long term care arena is experiencing within the homes of families who are providing care. We discuss this at length during the course.
Some of the course providers historically haven't spent so much time exploring business topics -- and thus the results families have been experiencing.
There are plenty of caregiving courses you can take -- anytime you wish. Right now, it is in your best interest -- both for your business and your future financial security -- to choose a course with a broad and generalized respect for business.
So, to get the most out of your startup expenses, choosing a course like the Pretty Good Life course may be to your benefit.
Also, our course is geared to the person who answers "Yes" to these questions:
- Are you a long-term, big picture kind of owner?
- Are you the kind of person who is willing to complete due diligence and research a business first?
- Does it work for you to obtain your certificate in 5 consecutive days -- as opposed to months?
- Are you the kind of person who likes to know "why"?
These questions are not appropriate for evaluating the other
providers because they aren't teaching our course material.
Second, we bring decades of real world experience, hands on business experience, government experience, and marketing and combine these with the best curriculum.
Third, you have a heart to care for the elderly and/or disabled. So do we. We want to share with you vital business aspects you won't find elsewhere so you can aim to provide services with peace of mind for years to come.
We hope you'll choose Pretty Good Life.
To your success!
