Course Outline

The Pretty Good Life 48 Hour Administrator Course consists of the 12 topics mandated by the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services.

While each course provider is required to cover these topics at a minimum, the actual content of each provider's course is very different. More about that here.

The primary topics covered are:

(1) Business planning and marketing;

(2) Fiscal planning and management;

(3) Human resource planning;

(4) Resident health services;

(5) Nutrition and food service;

(6) Working with people who are elderly, chronically mentally ill, or developmentally disabled;

(7) The licensing process;

(8) Social and recreational activities;

(9) Resident rights;

(10) Legal issues;

(11) Physical maintenance and fire safety; and

(12) Housekeeping.

Within each of these 12 topics we explore, strictly from a business administrator's perspective, current and significant issues, trends, and best practices.

The course is intensive in nature, considering that we are packing years worth of experience into one week's worth of learning.

Content delivery methods include

- presentation to a limited seating capacity to maintain optimum time for your questions and answers
- videos
- guest speakers
- one on one instructor advisory
- scenarios and responses
- current examples of business practices (the good, the bad and the ugly)
- modeling / demonstration
- product testimonials
